Boda is building an app for learning Eastern philosophy. This page explains what we collect on this website and what we do with it. The short version: we only collect what we need to run the waitlist, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we store:
- your email address
- which page you signed up on (Buddhism or Hindu philosophy)
- your answers to the optional multiple-choice survey shown after you join
With your signup, we also record:
- how you arrived: campaign (UTM) tags in the link, the referring site, and the page you landed on
- your approximate country and your browser's user agent
- a salted hash of your IP address, used only to stop spam (the waitlist doesn't keep the address itself)
We don't use advertising trackers. The only cookie is a strictly necessary one that lets you finish the survey after joining.
Analytics and session replay
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to see how people use this site: which page you visited and how you arrived, whether you joined the waitlist, and which survey options you picked. We never send PostHog your email address.
PostHog also records some visits as session replays, a reconstruction of the page with your taps, scrolls, and screen changes, so we can spot confusing parts of the site. Everything typed into a form field is masked before it leaves your browser, so a replay never shows your email.
PostHog doesn't set cookies or store anything in your browser. It identifies a visit with a random ID that lasts only while the page is open. PostHog receives your IP address and browser details with each request, may store your IP address, and uses it to estimate your approximate location.
Why we collect it
To run the waitlist, tell you when Boda launches, and send occasional updates about the launch. Analytics help us understand which topics and channels people respond to.
Who we share it with
We never sell your data. It's stored with our hosting and database providers, Vercel and Neon, and our analytics provider, PostHog, who process it only to run and improve this website for us.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist data until Boda launches and for up to 12 months afterwards, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Analytics, session replays, and older visit records are kept for the same period or less.
Your choices
To see, correct, or delete your data, or to stop hearing from us, email orubuddhism@gmail.com. We'll take care of it promptly.
Children
Boda isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
